Director of Emerging Tech

Lead Avertra’s Emerging Technology engineering practice in Jordan. Set the standard for architecture and delivery across low-code platforms, microservices and cloud-native systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on architecture and delivery across Mendix/equivalent platforms, APIs, microservices and cloud-native systems; review estimates, code standards, technical debt and designs.
• Assess AI/ML and intelligent automation for production suitability; track velocity, defect density, deployment frequency and mean time to recovery.
• Protect delivery focus amid external pressure, establish consistent sprint/quarterly-review practices and communicate regularly with global leadership.
• Own programme delivery against scope, budget and timing; govern milestones, dependencies, risks and evidence-based reviews and address performance gaps fairly.
• Use transparent contribution-based promotion, bonus and assignment criteria; build career milestones, equitable reviews, rapid onboarding and technical-lead succession through coaching.

Required and preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science, software engineering or information systems is required; a master’s is strongly preferred.
• At least 15 years in technology and 5 years leading teams of 20+ engineers, with a record of scaling teams, performance systems and client delivery.
• Deep Mendix or enterprise-scale OutSystems/Power Platform, microservices, API design, event-driven/distributed systems, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and DevOps expertise.
• Quality engineering, technology evaluation, Agile/SAFe/DAD, change leadership, Jira/Azure DevOps/Confluence and mentoring engineering leads.
• Arabic and English are required. Intermediate/Advanced Mendix certification is strongly preferred; PMP/PMI-ACP and MENA market experience are preferred.
• Hands-on technical judgement, calm direction under pressure, measurable outcomes, consistent fair standards and investment in people development are central expectations.
