Job description

Keep Avertra’s global infrastructure reliable and secure. The role combines cloud administration, identity management, recovery planning and practical technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Administer AWS/Azure compute and storage, Google Workspace, Slack, enterprise applications, on-premise/Azure Active Directory, Okta and cloud Kaspersky endpoint protection.
  • Monitor and resolve system/server/cloud/network alerts; manage on-premise and Azure backup/recovery, test replication/synchronization and disaster recovery and track office assets.
  • Enforce access/security policy, improve operations through data/scripting/automation and design resilient multi-region/multi-cloud infrastructure.
  • Coordinate regional support and cybersecurity projects, act as subject expert, provide occasional second-line desktop support, write documentation and manage IT vendors.

Required and preferred qualifications

  • A bachelor’s/master’s in computing or related work; at least 5 years each in IT, Windows Server administration and Windows 10/11 desktop administration.
  • At least 2 years each with Windows Server Active Directory, Azure AD and Azure Portal VM/network administration; at least 1 year each with Azure Sentinel and Azure Monitor.
  • Strong PC/Citrix XenApp/VDI endpoint experience and PowerShell; Azure compute/storage/network/security, IaaS/PaaS, availability and recovery expertise.
  • Create/configure/upgrade/migrate/patch Windows Server and SQL databases; diagnose cloud connectivity/security/performance and CPU, memory, I/O and storage problems.
  • Complex AD/Azure AD/LDAP and GPO management; DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, Windows authentication, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, SFTP, TCP/IP, routing/subnets, VPN/client troubleshooting and wireless knowledge.
  • Fluent spoken/written English, Office/Teams skills, programming awareness, excellent organization, analysis, customer service, communication and independent/cross-team problem-solving.
  • Preferred: HIPAA/SOC2, infrastructure as code, Ruckus, routing/switching/firewall equipment and MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE, LPIC, Server+ or VCP-DCV certifications.

Schedule and travel

  • Follow the local office schedule; travel depends on project needs. After-hours emergency on-call coverage is approximately four weeks each year.
