Join KEO’s Sustainability and Environment division in Amman to help deliver waste treatment, recycling, resource recovery and energy-from-waste projects. This hybrid role combines office and home working with the Waste Infrastructure Lead and international team on projects in the Middle East, Europe and the UK.
Technical responsibilities
- Support feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational stages of waste projects.
- Assess thermal, mechanical, biological and chemical treatment technologies and prepare technical reports, feasibility and due-diligence studies, options appraisals and business cases.
- Help develop design bases, process descriptions, mass balances, specifications and performance requirements; review contractor and technology supplier submissions and recommend technical solutions.
- Contribute to waste characterisation, facility and operational assessments, technology reviews, procurement documents, employer requirements, technical schedules and tender criteria.
- Attend and witness factory and site acceptance tests when needed.
Project coordination and business development
- Help project managers meet programme, budget and quality objectives and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, specialists, contractors and subcontractors.
- Track actions, risks, deliverables, schedules and changes; support construction coordination, issue resolution and commissioning.
- Attend client meetings, workshops and stakeholder discussions and report progress.
- Contribute to technical and commercial bids, methodologies, work plans, programmes and resource schedules, with project references, case studies and capability statements.
- Support market research, opportunity identification and client presentations across the Middle East; keep current with treatment technologies, circular economy and regulation, and improve technical standards, templates and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and skills
- A degree in mechanical, chemical, process or environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Two to five years in waste management is preferred; environmental infrastructure, utility and industrial experience will also be considered.
- Experience producing engineering studies and reports, with exposure to installation, construction and commissioning, waste treatment and recovery technologies, feasibility or due diligence.
- Strong analysis, technical writing and clear communication; initiative, independent working, prioritisation and adaptability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and suitable engineering calculation or modelling tools, with good English communication.
- Ability to travel to client offices and project sites as required.
Preferred attributes
- Arabic skills and a valid driving licence.
- Knowledge of large language models and responsible use to improve workflows while retaining sound engineering judgement.
- Multidisciplinary engineering or consultancy experience and exposure to international projects.
