Six-month consultancy at UNRWA headquarters in Amman to develop fleet policies, efficiency and monitoring systems; JOD 1,190.43 per month.
Assignment
- Develop an agency-wide fleet standardisation plan, performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms, policies and procedures, KPIs and deployment of new fleet tools.
- Headquarters Amman. Six months; remuneration JOD 1,190.43 per month. Local market research and field visits may be required to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
Planning and performance
- Develop policies, procedures, standards and operational guidance. Lead acquisition, replacement, disposal and standardisation planning; define allocation and fleet establishment requirements; support annual budgets and forecasts and promote optimisation and sustainability.
- Maintain dashboards and reporting, monitor utilisation, availability, downtime, fuel efficiency and operational performance, identify excess or underused assets, produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports and monitor KPIs across field operations.
Maintenance, fuel and safety
- Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance, costs, reliability and workshop performance. Maintain lifecycle asset records, plan replacement by age, mileage, condition and needs, and advise on specifications and maintenance standards.
- Set fuel standards and monitoring systems, assess consumption and costs across locations, investigate variances and potential irregularities or control weaknesses, recommend savings and efficiency improvements and implement monitoring technologies.
- Monitor safety compliance, accident trends and corrective action, registration, insurance, licensing and roadworthiness. Coordinate audits, compliance reviews and recommendations and promote driver safety and risk reduction.
Systems and field support
- Oversee fleet information systems, telematics, GPS and reporting platforms; ensure reliable field-office records; develop analytical tools and dashboards; promote digitisation and automation and assess innovative technologies and best practices.
- Act as headquarters focal point for field operations, advise fleet focal points and managers, develop training, SOPs and guidance, conduct reviews and support missions, build capacity and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Required qualifications
- Accredited first university degree in mechanical engineering, business administration, supply chain management or a related field.
- At least six years of responsible relevant mechanical engineering or supply/transport operations experience, together with management experience, especially staff management.
- Knowledge of computer applications and automotive engineering.
- Very good spoken and written English and Arabic.
Desirable qualifications and competencies
- Thorough knowledge of local traffic rules and regulations and a valid driving licence.
- Integrity, professionalism, respect for diversity, communication, working with people and results. Functional competencies: leading and supervising, technical expertise, planning and organising, analysing and formulating strategies and concepts.
