Security Operations Centre Trainee

Role

• Monitor Umniah's security operations centre systems for timely incident detection, carrying out daily monitoring, investigation, escalation and response activities.

Responsibilities

• Review SIEM and other security alerts for potential threats and assess their validity and severity.
• Escalate cases requiring advanced investigation or response to level-two analysts or the appropriate team.
• Analyze firewall, server and endpoint logs for suspicious activity.
• Prepare and maintain periodic security incident and event reports for internal teams and stakeholders, and respond to related customer information and support requests.
• Assist with SOC tools, dashboards and processes under supervision, and keep up with cybersecurity threats and attack methods.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline.
• Basic knowledge or zero to two years in IT security, cybersecurity or SOC operations.

Required certificates and knowledge

• One or more of the following certifications, or an equivalent: EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst, EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker, or CompTIA Security+.
• Basic knowledge of SIEM and intrusion detection/prevention systems, with good knowledge of Windows, Linux and Unix.

Preferred certificates and knowledge

• One or more of the following certifications, or an equivalent: Splunk Core Certified Power User, CCNA Routing and Switching, or eCIR.
• Basic knowledge of next-generation firewalls, endpoint antivirus/antimalware, endpoint detection and response, and denial-of-service mitigation.

Working arrangements

• A full-time traineeship in Amman, Jordan.
