Maintenance

Al Manara, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Saraya Aqaba is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician. The role keeps hotel facilities and equipment ready for use and responds to repair requests to support a safe, comfortable guest stay.

Technical duties

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance concerns.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment and mechanical-room equipment, including cleaning, lubrication and visual inspections.
• Carry work equipment such as tools and a radio, locate all equipment shut-off valves and building utility shut-offs, and operate them as needed.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved programmes and standards.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge, or the ability to acquire it, in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical and mechanical work, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishes, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and general building work.
• Prepare and paint surfaces, make minor drywall and wood-trim repairs, replace light bulbs and air-conditioning filters, and thoroughly clean the repair or painting area.
• Test, troubleshoot and make basic repairs to equipment, plumbing including toilets and drains, electrical components and lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets and other guestroom items.
• Programme televisions and perform housekeeping and inventory duties associated with Engineering.
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping features and external irrigation sprinklers.
• Use basic computer skills to enter air-handler schedules and adjust temperatures, and enter and locate work-related information.

Quality, safety and guest service

• Follow company, safety and security procedures; report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents and injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials correctly.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and appearance, protect proprietary information and safeguard company assets.
• Welcome guests under hotel standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist guests with disabilities and thank guests with appreciation.
• Meet quality standards, maintain positive working relationships, support shared team goals, and listen and respond appropriately to colleagues' concerns.
• Communicate clearly and professionally and perform other reasonable duties as requested.

Required and preferred qualifications

• A driver's licence is required.
• A high-school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Some experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation and painting is preferred. Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is an advantage.
• No supervisory experience is required.

Physical work requirements

Duties include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and placing objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, with assistance for heavier lifting or movement. The role also involves stairs, service ramps and ladders, reaching above the head and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling and stooping.
