Role and work location
- Design, deliver and operate secure, dependable, governed data products on Microsoft Fabric for Service Operations. Turn complex operational data into trusted analytics, reporting and AI inputs while setting engineering standards and guiding colleagues.
- Amman is an explicitly listed work location; Barcelona is another option in the same vacancy. This is a regular, full-time SITA position.
Responsibilities
- Develop complete Microsoft Fabric architectures covering ingestion, medallion/layered processing, Lakehouse/Warehouse serving layers and semantic models.
- Manage and improve Fabric capacities, workspaces, access permissions and production environments. Build and support lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, Spark workloads and reusable engineering components.
- Create scalable data and Power BI semantic models for Service Operations, including ServiceNow asset management, CMDB and incident-management data.
- Maintain metadata-driven ingestion and integration frameworks with SQL, Python/PySpark, APIs and enterprise connectors.
- Implement CI/CD, automated tests, observability, alerts, recovery processes and technical documentation.
- Integrate data quality, lineage, governance, privacy and security across the data lifecycle. Use ITIL and ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM knowledge to retain operational meaning and relationship integrity.
- Use AI responsibly to improve delivery and prototype valuable Service Operations applications.
- Advise senior stakeholders, lead technical design and coach junior engineers. Formal people-management responsibility is not required.
Experience and qualifications
- At least five years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data platforms, with ownership of production solutions.
- Practical delivery using Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern lakehouse platform; Fabric expertise is strongly preferred.
- Enterprise data and semantic modelling, shared-platform operations, CI/CD and technical design leadership experience. ServiceNow, CMDB/CSDM, IT service management or enterprise operations experience is highly desirable.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related discipline. Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure, ITIL or ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM certification is advantageous.
Technical and professional skills
- Fabric administration, OneLake, lakehouse/warehouse patterns, Data Factory, notebooks, Spark, Power BI semantic models, DAX and performance optimisation.
- Advanced SQL and strong Python/PySpark; dimensional and relational modelling, APIs, metadata-driven pipelines, Git/GitHub, CI/CD, testing and release management.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, resilience, cost optimisation, role-based access, managed identities, data quality, metadata, lineage and auditability.
- Working knowledge of ITIL, Service Operations, ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM and responsible AI. Clear communication, stakeholder influence, practical problem solving, coaching and complete ownership.
- Professional competencies include data engineering/platform operations, architecture/modelling, software engineering/DevOps, data governance/quality/security, and technical leadership/innovation.
