Job description

Lead Seenaryo’s Jordan team, operations, finances and partnerships in Amman. Full-time, one-year contract; monthly salary of JOD 1,850–2,250.

Role and working arrangements

  • Lead Seenaryo Jordan as it develops greater institutional independence from its UK office, taking responsibility for operational, financial and organisational health, legal compliance and governance, and links with regional and UK leaders.
  • Office-based in Amman, five days per week, reporting to the Joint CEO. The advertised starting window runs from September to December 2026, depending on availability.
  • Seenaryo uses participatory theatre and play to support wellbeing, learning and social justice in underserved communities.

Team leadership and HR — 30%

  • Lead, motivate and support the team and develop collaboration, integrity and quality.
  • Manage core-team recruitment, onboarding, performance, conflict resolution, pastoral support and professional development.
  • Oversee office operations, workspace, equipment and supplies, and guide office-hours and team hybrid-working policies.
  • Support staff wellbeing, monitor developments in Jordan and coordinate crisis and risk management with regional leadership.
  • Directly manage core-team colleagues, providing technical support, coaching and HR guidance.

Programme and grant oversight — 20%

  • Track overall progress, risks and obstacles across Jordan and Palestine grants.
  • Hold budgets and donor relationships for selected major grants when required.
  • Understand Jordan programmes thoroughly and help technical colleagues resolve implementation barriers.
  • Present programmes and grants effectively, discuss gaps and opportunities with partners and donors and join partner meetings as needed.
  • Contribute to fundraising, bids, donor reports and evaluation.

Strategic oversight — 20%

  • Own and develop Jordan’s strategic direction with UK and regional leadership.
  • Contribute to quarterly UK board meetings and represent Jordan at senior organisational level.
  • Strengthen the entity’s independent identity, systems and leadership capacity, including a Jordan advisory committee.
  • Support plans to expand work in Palestine with the Jordan Arts Team.

Operations and finance — 20%

  • Ensure compliance with organisational procedures and Jordanian registration, tax, social security and audit rules.
  • Work with legal counsel on NGO registration, government permissions and current activity records on Takamul.
  • Oversee budgets, payroll and bank-signatory responsibilities, and monthly petty-cash and bank reconciliation with the Finance Manager.
  • Develop the office/overheads budget and procurement plan and monitor spending with Jordan finance colleagues.
  • Oversee year-end accounts with the accountant and Jordan and UK Finance Managers.
  • Manage financial risk, governance and safeguarding according to organisational policy and local requirements.

Communication and partnerships — 10%

  • Represent the organisation with donors, government, partners and public platforms and build relationships consistent with its values.
  • Present its journey and impact convincingly and maintain regular UK and Lebanon team communication.
  • Support wider-team tasks when agreed with the line manager; the role can develop further.

Leadership competencies

  • Respect and enthusiasm for theatre and play; being an artist is not required.
  • Prioritise human care, safety and wellbeing and handle challenging discussions with kindness and clarity.
  • Maintain quality and attention to detail, take responsibility for outcomes and balance decisive action with appropriate consultation.
  • Communicate openly across cultures and borders, learn reflectively from setbacks and show accountability, humility and curiosity.
  • Remain resilient and adaptable under pressure and help colleagues resolve uncertainty creatively.

Essential experience

  • At least five years in a senior operations, management or leadership position within an NGO or community organisation.
  • Successful people management covering recruitment, performance and conflict.
  • Experience contributing to strategy and delivering its priorities operationally.
  • Substantial financial oversight, budgeting, financial planning and multi-donor budget experience.
  • Experience strengthening organisational systems, policies and processes and leading through change or crisis.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and ability to support Arabic–English communication.
  • Understanding of Jordan’s and the region’s social, economic, political and humanitarian context.

Desirable experience

  • Organisational growth, change or institutional development and establishing or strengthening teams, systems and functions.
  • Supporting boards, advisory committees or senior leadership.
  • Institutional donor relationships, grants and reporting, and safeguarding leadership or oversight.
  • Play-based learning, theatre, arts or creative education.
  • Jordanian labour law, tax, social security and NGO compliance.
  • Relationships with government, ministries and senior stakeholders, and experience in arts, education, child or community development.

Contract and benefits

  • Monthly salary of JOD 1,850–2,250, dependent on experience and inclusive of tax and social security; different expectations may be discussed with exceptional candidates.
  • One-year employment agreement with strong renewal prospects subject to performance and funding, and a three-month probation period.
  • Collaborative team, professional development and growth, participation in shaping Jordan operations and an annual professional-development and wellbeing budget.

Application

  • Complete the employer’s form with a CV and cover letter, two professional references, phone number and earliest available start date.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the role is filled; shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. The vacancy listing records 31 October 2026.
  • Applications are welcomed from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, particularly those reflecting Jordan and the region and lived experience of the communities served.
  • Jordan work permission is preferred but candidates without it are not excluded from applying.
