Research and Development Director - NGO

Lead NGO research and strategy in Amman, requiring a doctorate, peer-reviewed publications, institutional experience and regular Palestine travel.

Leadership and planning

• Report to the general director and lead strategy, research, entrepreneurial initiatives and alliances supporting institutional effectiveness.
• Commission and oversee institutional, regional, programme and grant strategies, operational plans, indicators, monitoring and corrective development.
• Develop roadmaps, guidance, metrics and presentations and build local, Arab and international partnerships.

Research, evaluation and risk

• Prepare terms and engage experts for quality surveys, feasibility, socioeconomic and political studies, urgent needs and risk research.
• Evaluate institutional, regional, programme, project and grant performance and impact and design innovative programmes.
• Oversee publications, position papers and development plans and organise seminars, workshops and conferences, documenting findings into practical plans.
• Maintain risk registers and address audit findings while coordinating directors and strategy and governance bodies.
• Measure study and tool quality, partnerships, evaluations, initiatives, publications, events, responsiveness and timely remediation.

Qualifications and requirements

• A doctorate in a scientific, literary or humanities discipline and peer-reviewed publications at Palestinian, Arab and international levels.
• Documented institutional research, development and strategic-planning experience and strong research networks; the general field lists five-plus years.
• Advanced Arabic and English writing and speaking, analysis, synthesis, reasoning, critical thinking and computer expertise.
• Initiative and flexibility in leading change, deep Palestinian civil-society knowledge and ability to travel to and from Palestine easily and regularly.
