Responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests; clean, lubricate and inspect tools, kitchen equipment and mechanical-room machinery.
• Locate and operate equipment/building shut-offs, isolate and tag energy before maintenance and store flammable materials safely.
• Track stock and requisition parts, hand over faults and work progress between shifts and use computers to adjust air-handler schedules and temperatures.
• Apply or develop basic HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic-control, carpentry, finishing, kitchen-equipment, vehicle, energy-saving and building knowledge.
• Prepare/paint surfaces, repair minor drywall and wood trim, replace lamps/AC filters and clean up thoroughly.
• Troubleshoot room equipment, drains/toilets, lights, cables, vacuums, internet devices, switches and sockets; programme TVs, maintain landscaping/sprinklers and complete associated inventory and housekeeping tasks.

Qualifications and experience

• High school or equivalent preferred. General maintenance, surface preparation and painting experience; hotel maintenance experience is an advantage. Driving licence required.
• Supervisory experience is not required.

Physical and practical requirements

• Lift, carry, push, pull and move loads up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Heavier lifting or movement requires assistance.
• Use stairs and service ramps and ladders.
• Reach above head and below knees, bending, twisting, pulling and stooping.
• Visually examine tools and machinery for defects.
