Job description

Role and employment terms

The EU Delegation to Jordan seeks a Project Officer in its Cooperation Section, Local Agent Group I, reference 522934. Based in Amman, the officer reports to the Head of Cooperation within a 24-person team. Occasional non-standard hours are expected, and duties may evolve with Delegation needs.

The initial contract lasts two years and may be renewed subject to funding and operational needs. Different arrangements may apply to internal applicants already holding indefinite contracts. The expected start is mid-November 2026. Basic salary normally starts at JOD 2,919 and depends on verified relevant experience; the announcement does not state the pay interval. Conditional benefits include personal leave, public holidays, health insurance and retirement savings.

Programme delivery

Support programming, identification, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation throughout the project cycle. Review EU-funded activities through meetings, field visits and reports; coordinate monitoring, evaluation and communication missions.

Assist with calls for proposals, procurement and relevant evaluations. Check contractual and visibility obligations and provide operational support and quality review of programme documents and reporting.

Communications and public engagement

Help shape and deliver cooperation communications strategy and programme plans. Coordinate publications, fact sheets, impact stories, photography, video and digital content. Organise campaigns, exhibitions, conferences, cultural initiatives and public events, and guide partners on EU visibility requirements.

Maintain relationships with Jordanian authorities, EU Member States, international organisations, civil society and media. Draft and edit articles, speeches, press materials and success stories; work with the Communications Unit and prepare management talking points, presentations and briefings.

Coordinate digital campaigns and social content, monitor online communities and audience responses, and maintain web platforms. Produce reports and analytical notes for management and headquarters, organise communications training, and manage records through Commission systems including Ares and OPSYS.

Mandatory eligibility

A university degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, political science or a related field is required. Applicants need at least five years of relevant professional experience gained after the qualifying degree, spanning communication, visibility, public diplomacy, project management and social media.

At least three years must cover digital communications, storytelling, content, advertising and web/social metrics. Event management experience and strong organisation are required, alongside experience managing or monitoring international development programmes, knowledge of EU external action and development/communication policies, and work with donor-funded projects, international organisations or diplomatic missions.

Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English, Jordanian residence/work entitlement, good legal standing and medical fitness are mandatory.

Selection strengths

The assessment rewards quality delivery under tight deadlines, initiative, creativity, motivation and resilience; independent and team working; clear oral, written and digital communication; team coordination, prioritisation and flexible hours; and proficiency with graphic/video editing and digital platform tools.

Application and selection

Apply by 16:00 Amman time on 21 October 2026. Send a cover letter, the completed and signed declaration of honour, and a Europass-format CV stating exact job titles, employers and detailed duties. Follow the official checklist: missing evidence or eligibility may disqualify an application.

Send to eeasjobs-193@eeas.europa.eu using the subject: Ref: 522934 – JOB TITLE: PROJECT OFFICER IN THE COOPERATION SECTION. The official page provides the declaration, Europass and privacy-notice links.

Eligible applications proceed through committee assessment, potentially including shortlisting, practical tests and interviews. At least three leading candidates reach the final written test and interview. Only candidates progressing at each stage are contacted. Direct queries to Delegation Administration, not committee members; recruitment complaints go to the application mailbox.

The Delegation applies equal opportunity and anti-harassment policies. Preselected candidates with disabilities may request assistance through DELEGATION-JORDAN-VACANCY@eeas.europa.eu; reasonable workplace accommodation is available under applicable rules.
