Senior Software Development Manager – Amazon Payment Services

Role

• Lead software development for Amazon Payment Services in Amman, building regional payment products and customer experiences using distributed systems, scalable architecture, machine learning and algorithms.
• Build teams and influence new products in a rapidly evolving environment. Bring a strong engineering and programme-management background and experience leading substantial projects and cross-functional teams.
• Combine strategic direction with hands-on delivery, resolve ambiguity and competing priorities, anticipate bottlenecks, manage escalations and balance business needs with technical constraints.

Responsibilities

• Set high standards for technical excellence, provide thought leadership and communicate effectively with different audiences.
• Manage engineers who plan, design and deliver complex systems, and develop and mentor managers as a leader of leaders.
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements in partnership with business leaders.
• Establish a consistent project-management framework and effective development processes for rapid, high-quality releases across markets.
• Mentor engineers, represent the technical organization to senior leaders and communicate the value of its work.
• Lead design reviews and guide architecture, system integration, performance and scalability decisions.
• Lead technology design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance, helping teams meet commitments and deliver scalable solutions with measurable customer impact.

Basic qualifications

• At least ten years of engineering experience.
• At least five years managing engineering teams.
• At least ten years planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software.
• Experience partnering with product or programme-management teams.

Preferred qualification

• Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic applications.
