The United Nations Department of Safety and Security provides leadership, operational support and oversight for the UN security management system worldwide. It helps programmes and activities operate safely and protects personnel, assets and operations in complex environments. Its work covers threat analysis, security risk and information management, recommendations, coordination, training and incident response. The department was established globally in 2005.

Jordan office

UNDSS participates in the United Nations country team in Jordan and maintains an office in Amman. Its professional security coordination supports UN system activities, while individual vacancies have responsibilities specific to their team and geographic remit.
