About Tiraz – Widad Kawar Home for Arab Dress
Tiraz houses Widad Kawar’s collection of dress and textiles, exploring Palestinian, Jordanian and wider Arab heritage. It connects clothing and craftsmanship with social history and the experiences of women and communities who created this heritage.
The centre preserves and documents objects, develops exhibitions and researches dress, textiles and embroidery. Oral histories and accessible interpretation connect inherited knowledge with contemporary creative practice.
Tiraz offers educational programmes for schools, universities and visitors, alongside craft and embroidery workshops that help transmit and develop skills. The centre is on Riyadh Al Mifleh Street in Jabal Amman, between the Fourth and Fifth Circles.
