About Sela for Training and Protection of Heritage
Sela was founded in 2015 by five members of communities surrounding the Petra World Heritage Site. The nonprofit company involves Jordanians in protecting their cultural heritage, connecting archaeological conservation with local development and practical skills.
Its activities include university and vocational training in archaeological conservation and documentation, community participation in heritage management and maintenance work at Petra. Projects also address water management, restoration of Nabataean flood-control infrastructure and employment opportunities in cultural-resource management.
