The Jordanian National Commission for Women was established in 1992 as a national mechanism for advancing the status of women. It works with government, civil society and other stakeholders to broaden women’s economic, social and political participation and ensure their needs inform decision-making.
Its work addresses policies, legislation and plans, including follow-up from an equal-opportunities perspective. Research, awareness, advocacy and partnerships connect the issues facing women with programmes and measures intended to address discrimination and improve participation.
