About Higher Population Council
The Higher Population Council connects population issues with Jordan’s economic and social development priorities. Its origins lie in the National Population Committee formed in 1973; the council succeeded that committee in its present form in 2002.
The council contributes to policies, strategies and action plans and their monitoring and evaluation. It shares knowledge on population, development and reproductive health, strengthens national capacities and coordinates partners, with attention to the demographic dividend and young people’s role in sustainable development.
