CARE began working in Jordan in 1948 to respond to refugees and displaced people. It combines humanitarian assistance and development work to address poverty and its effects on people facing significant hardship.
The organization supports displacement-affected communities and works in Azraq refugee camp. Priorities include women’s rights, civil society strengthening and natural-resource management, with attention to farmers, low-income households and women’s economic participation.
Its work spans crisis response, food and water, health, education and skills, and climate. Jordan operations are coordinated from Amman in partnership with local and community actors.
