Founded in 1999, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies is an independent regional centre for research, training and advocacy. It promotes human rights and democracy and strengthens civil society in Jordan and the Arab world, with particular attention to women and young people.
The centre combines courses and workshops with research and publications, and convenes conferences and discussions for civil society organizations and professional groups to exchange experience. Its programmes address participation, freedoms, social protection and the rights of women and youth. It has held consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council since 2006.
