Arab Bank established the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation in 1978 to advance knowledge and creativity in Jordan and the Arab world. The nonprofit foundation serves as its cultural and social responsibility arm, supporting scientific research, culture and innovation.
Its programmes include a researchers’ award, support for applied research and innovation, public libraries and Knowledge Path libraries for children and young people. These spaces provide reading, learning and activities that encourage critical thinking and creativity.
The foundation hosts dialogue through its cultural forum, runs cinema, music and arts programmes, offers cultural grants and takes activities to Jordan’s governorates. It also develops Arabic digital knowledge content, extending participation and access to culture beyond physical venues.
