How to write a professional CV that gets noticed by employers in Jordan

A practical step-by-step guide to a clear, concise CV that fits the Jordanian job market and passes applicant tracking systems.

Your CV is the first thing an employer sees, and they often decide within a minute whether to keep reading. This guide explains how to write a well-structured, convincing CV for jobs in Jordan.

1. Start with clear contact details

Include your full name, phone number, email and city (for example: Amman – Jordan), plus your LinkedIn profile if you have one.

2. Write a two- or three-line professional summary

Answer one question: what do you offer the employer? Example: “Accountant with 4 years of experience in financial statements and bank reconciliations, skilled in ERP systems and advanced Excel.”

3. List experience from newest to oldest

  • Job title, employer, city and dates.
  • 3–5 bullet points per role, each starting with an action verb.
  • Use numbers wherever possible: “increased monthly sales by 15%”.

4. Match the keywords in the job ad

Many companies use applicant tracking systems (ATS). Reuse the terms from the ad — software, certificates and skills — when they genuinely apply to you.

5. Education, certificates and skills

List your degree, university and graduation year, then relevant courses and certificates. Keep the skills section factual and state your English level clearly.

6. Common mistakes to avoid

  • A long CV — one page is enough for under 7 years of experience.
  • Typos and inconsistent formatting.
  • An unprofessional email address.
  • Sending the same CV to every job without tailoring it.

7. Save it as a PDF named after you

Save the file as a PDF so the layout stays intact, then browse the latest vacancies and apply.
